Ten Digit Creations – A Review

Ordering

I’ve actually known about Ten Digit Creations for a while.  Last year when I needed some gifts from my brother’s soon to be wife’s Shower I placed an order for a bunch of candles.  I loved them, even though it was technically a custom order it shipped quickly and I understand the were a hit, they burned amazingly and smelled yummy.  I’d always meant to go back and order from them again, but not being a candle burner, I never did.

Fast forward to not to long ago and I randomly searched ‘cupcake’ and discovered they made a ton of different scented products, not just the candles I remembered.  I was back and forth for a while, trying to figure out what to get.  They sell so many different things, tarts, lotions, scrubs, soaps, perfumes, and sprays.

I ordered :

Cherry Slushie Dye Free Soy Blend Wax Muffin Melts / Tarts
Bergamot Spice Whipped Body Butter
Buttercream Cupcake Perfume Roll On

I went back recently and placed another order, this time chosing :

Lilac Solid Perfume
Mix or Match Sampler
Sweet Orange and Chili Pepper Cold Process Soap
Witches Brew Perfume Roll On
Lilac Perfume Roll On

Shipping

Ten Digit ships quickly, and the price was very reason able.  I was never overcharged.  I’ve always gotten a little convo saying they got my order, thank you for placing it, and I always get shipping conformation and a DC# when it goes out.  Which is a major plus for me, I hate when an Etsy shop never updates and I never get a notice, I’m left wondering if I need to start worrying and sending convos.

Packaging

My orders were always shipped carefully in a padded envelope.  Inside everything was wrapped carefully.  I always received a thank you note.  In my first order I received a free sample tart.

Products

The Perfume Roll Ons

The Roll Ons come in large clear glass bottles labeled with the company name, the scent, as well as the ingredients. They are 6$ for 1/3 of  fluid ounce. They are blended on an oil base that smooths into your skin quickly and dries with no greasy left overs.  The scents are pure and clear and last for quite a while.

Buttercream Cupcake ~ begins with top notes of churned whipped butter, blonde sugar cane; followed by middle notes of Madagascar vanilla and maple; well-rounded with a dry base note of vanilla extract.

There is a place here in LA that recently opened called Baby Cakes.  They make cupcakes, and probably other stuff, I’ve only ever gotten the cupcakes.  This perfume smells exactly like walking into that bakery. When you first smell it in the bottle there is this odd butter smell to it, but once it’s applied it all melts perfectly into the soft scent of a freshly frosted cupcake.

Lilac ~ the aroma of a freshly blooming lilac bush.

Lilac.  Pure and simple, just like you were standing in front of a lilac bush and just breathing.  This is my favorite scent of all time.

Witches Brew – a bewitching combination of sweet dark spices tossed generously with intoxicating violets and smoky dark patchouli. Add to the pot a pinch of resinous cedarwood entangled in a web of fiery cinnamon and seductive clove.

I’ve recently developed this thing for patchouli.  I have no idea where it came from, but I love wearing it in blends.  Usually with sequins for a juxtaposition.  And I wear sequins more often then one might imagine.  This scent is amazing, it’s earth and spicy and I’m surprised I like it as much as I do.  Ordering it I thought it would be nice, I’d like to see how well they ‘blend’ scents, and wow, love it.

The Sampler

The sampler included three little jars of your choice of product and scents for 3$. It’s a great deal, no matter what you pick.

Monkey Farts Body Lotion ~ fresh bananas, coconuts, pineapple, kiwi, strawberry…things a monkey eats….and farts 🙂

I like this lotion.  Just ‘like’.  The formula is nice, the scent is fruity, but I don’t think I’d by a full sized one because the lotion seemed a little… watery?  While it’s sort of thick, it just has an odd consistency I’m not crazy about.

Coconut Blast  Whipped Body Butter~ smells as is you cracked open a fresh coconut.

A contrast to the lotion is the body butter, which is rich and emollient and yet seeps into the skin really easily.  I like the formula but I LOVE the scent  It reminds me of pure coconut tanning lotion without the grease, oil, and skin cancer.  I would buy this combination in full sized.

Columbian Coffee Sugar Scrub ~ strong fresh brewed coffee.

This smells just like coffee, which I’ve recently been told I can no longer drink, not even in decaf.  I used all the scrub in one shower and it was a nice blend, didn’t leave me feeling greasy, smoothed my elbows, but the scent washed away with the scrub.  I think I’ll stick with my scrubs from Gloi.

The Soap

My soap came in a nice sized chunk wrapped careful in paper and labeled with its scent and ingredients.

Sweet Orange & Chili Pepper – top notes of tree ripened sweet oranges splashed with fiery chili pepper.

This soap makes me wish my Grandma was still alive.  She used to make orange marmalade with chili peppers.  Like the skin of the orange and the flesh of the peppers.  It was AMAZING on scones with a strong sweet cup of tea.  This soap is just like that (although I swear I won’t be eating it).  I’m really happy with the formula, I’ve used it a few days in a row in the shower and it’s nice, doesn’t dry my skin out.  Plus it’s vegan, which is a major plus.  I would totally buy this again, and maybe in a few different scents as well.

The Body Butter

The butters come in amber colors 2 ounce jars for 5$ or 4 ounce jars for 8$. The label included the scent, ingredients, and the size.

Bergamot Spice ~ an exotic fragrance with citrus top notes of bergamot surrounded with nuances of freshly ground ginger combined with notes of sandalwood, cedar, Indian patchouli, and sweet basil.

Love love love this body butter.  As I mentioned before, I like this butter formula, and I’m pretty sure it’s vegan.  I love this scent.  It’s like a cup of Earl Grey tea kicked up a few notches and this is a scent I would certainly purchase as a perfume.  The patchouli in it is very faint, the bergamot stealing the show.

The Tarts

The tarts come in a stack of four packaged in little muffin wrappers.

Cherry Slushie ~ a sweet and tangy frozen cherry drink.

I kid you not, but the scent it about dead on.  I have no idea how they did it, but these tarts area amazing.  They melt with a scent for about 8 hours, which to me is quite a while compared to some I’ve used.  I have a few more of them on order right now in Rose and Lily of the Valley.

The Solid Perfume

I also ended up getting a solid perfume in Lilac, which was a scent I was confident I would like, to be able to take it with me in my purse.  It comes in a small .5 ounce tin.  My only complaint is the lid pops off, it doesn’t screw on, so when it gets tossed in my purse I have to make sure I’ve packed it in my cosmetic bag carefully or it’ll end up all over everything, which is why I like a solid instead of a potentially leaky oil instead.  Each solid perfume is 6$ in a tin and 4.50$ in a .15 ounce tube.  They, again, also contain beeswax, which I’m not too crazy about.

The scent is nice and strong and lasts quite a bit, though, so apart from having to apply it with my fingers, I really like it.  I would have preferred it in one of their tubes.

Conclusion

Would I order from Ten Digit Creations again?  Yes.  I’m actually waiting on an order now.

  • The scents are amazing, every thing I ordered was exactly like I expected it to smell.
  • The perfumes last a long time and are made with an oil base, which I prefer.  Even the solid perfume lasted!
  • The butter are well made, not one bit greasy, although the lotions are a little odd.
  • Shipping was quick and the customer service is always excellent. The owners recently thanked me for including them in my My Favorite Lilacs post
  • Many of their products are vegan.
  • They  have a ton of other scents I’d love to try as well.

  1. Lovely review! I’m going to check them out! It’s nice to hear that the scent descriptions were spot on.

  2. Oooh, a new place to try! I’m kind of burned out on bath products at the moment, but maybe this summer I will give them a try. Some of their scents look excellent. ❤

    • I really highly recommend them. I haven’t found anything that I don’t like scent wise!

I’m going to order the Vanilla Sandalwood next!

  3. Hello again Grey,

You have become a GREAT customer and we appreciate you very much! We also appreciate you spreading the “word of mouth”. It’s the best form of advertisement and we try hard to provide a great product at a great price.
I’ve always struggled with my lotion recipe. It took me months to work out the formula I’m using now. I want to keep it vegan and as natural as possible. When you factor in the many different skin types and what each requires (or likes), it makes it even harder to “stick” with a formula. I may have to look at an extra ingredient for that “slide” that you’re missing. Even though it does seem odd, it still makes the skin feel wonderful; based on customer reviews.
This is the type of review that we need, good and bad. It makes us stay on our toes and continue to make our products perfect for everyone. When we test a new product and pass it out to friends and family, we don’t always get an honest review. I think they’re scared of hurting our feelings, even though we strongly urge them to.
We welcome all of your readers to stop by for a visit and enjoy a 10% discount on their first order. Put GREY10 in the comments section when checking out.

    Thank you again,
    Ken & Amber

    • Thanks so much for your generous offer and for commenting!

I agree, your lotion did moisturize, the consistency was just a little… odd 🙂

  4. I browsed through their etsy page a while ago, and I was intrigued by the lilac perfume. Good to know it actually smells like it’s supposed to. Lilac is my favourite ❤
I don't have a tart burner but my mom has about a million so I might have to take advantage of that 10% off.

PS I've been following your tumblr for a while. When is the etsy shop going to open?

    • I adore the Lilac, it’s far and above what I expected. I’m going to try the Lily of the Valley soon, although I understand that is a blend.

As far as the Etsy shop, well… big sigh. I’ve been sort of sick for a while now, and until I get things worked out and all that, I just can’t take on the added stress of a shop. I will continue to do custom orders, though.

      • Aw, I’m sorry to hear that. Hope you’re feeling better soon!
I’ve been swooning over quite a few things you’ve posted on tumblr, it’s like jewelry porn.

  5. Great review.I will try their perfumes and tarts, maybe some body butter too. They have a long list of scents so it will be little hard to decide.Lilac is my favourite scent,I’m using an edt from Yves Rocher which I love,I think I will try this one too:)

    • I’m trying to pick only a FEW to try, but every time I look I add another to the list, just because I’m so confident that they’ll be what they are supposed to!

  6. I LOVE your honest reviews..

  7. Your reviews always make me yearn for a cosmetic spending spree, especially this one! I have an urge to find out how their “Britches & Bloomers” fragrance matches up to Philosophy’s “Pure Grace” – the closest to the smell of fabric conditioner I’ve found in a perfume so far. I think I’m going to place an order and perhaps write a review of my own!

I’ve been a fan of their body butter for a while now, and the only downside is that our ridiculous summer heat means I have to stock up in the cooler months so it doesn’t melt in transit! I’m rationing my favourites already, and it’s only May.

  9. I’m going to have to try their Buttercream Cupcake perfume. I can never have too many scents that smell like yummy baked goods.

  10. @ Vixel, our Britches & Bloomers is more like April Fresh Downy. It is YUMMY, but not like Pure Grace.

  11. Oh Grey you are evil! You introduce me to so many great sounding companies and i am super-skint!
I hope they do the Cherry Slushie perfume in some of the body products! 😀
Also hee hee Monkey Farts! 😀

    • I am evvvvilllllllll… >:)

The Cherry Slushie is awesome, maybe you could convo them and ask for it special?

  12. Yes, I am quite in lust with their Wisteria and Lilly of the Valley scents and I’m trying to force myself not to buy them but I can feel myself want them.

Out of curiosity, I was wondering what people thought of oil perfume vs. spray… I’ve only ever had spray so I have no experience on how oil perfume differs!

  13. They’re having a BOGO 50% off sale for Memorial Day weekend! Although it can’t be combined it with GREY10…
