Pick of the Week

Ophelia’s Apothecary’s Shimmering Shipped Body Butter

OA is doing a lot of shimmering things these days.

our seasonal pink lemonade shimmer lotion was a hit, so we wanted to introduce a couple of seasonal fragrances for the holidays. this is our regular body butter recipe blended with very fine, silver mica dust. our lotion is lavish and thick, and leaves skin soft….but when you mix in shimmer, it transforms your skin into skin that feels super silky. perfect for a little pampering on a cold winter night, when you want a little bit of a glow! this is not a ‘teeny bopper’ shimmer, but more of a glow!

this moisturizer is an intense, healing butter with a shea butter and cocoa butter base. both of these treatments are known historically for their benefits in healing scars, blemishes, and minor skin imperfections. then, i mixed vitamin e and c and added japanese green tea to help fight free radicals. deeply emollient and highly concentrated…great as a pampering indulgence on rough, dry, and tired skin.

I picked the exact perfect scent for this in Caramel Tobacco.  It’s completely amazing.  I searched and just coudln’t find a complete scent list, one that described the scents so it was sort of a stab in the dark picking it.

The lotion is really nice, thick and creamy and yet nongreasy.  The silver shimmer is swirled in a little unevenly, but not too bad at all.  It just turns out that one arm is always more sparkly then the other.

  1. “Caramel Tobacco”? Ooh, I hope there’s some left in stock when it’s cool enough for me to order by mail again!

  2. Ohhh, that sounds like it’d smell delicious…

  3. Wow, that sounds amazing! I looked at her Etsy, too – the prices are very reasonable. Thank you!

  4. You know, I was actually thinking of ordering a shimmering lotion.
But does it sparkle or makes you look pearly?

also, would you ever consider reviewing this company?
I am a bit curious about their oil cleanser…

    • It’s more of a very subtle shimmer then anything sparkly or pearly.

I’ll take a look, but in general I don’t use oil cleansers.

  5. So, I assume you found this by now or they informed you, but in case anyone else reading this also wonders: there’s a list (with descriptions!) of their scents in their profile, if you click on the Read more part of their About section 🙂
